A cleaner was killed by a descending lift and another woman was hit by a Metro train
One death and one serious injury was the result of two serious accidents in Madrid on Monday morning: a 40 year old woman who died at the National Anthropology Museum and another who was hit by a Metro train when she collapsed and fell onto the line at Embajadores.
The victim in the first case was cleaning a lift shaft at the Anthropology Museum on Calle Alfonso XII in the city, when the lift came down, killing her instantly. The local police in Madrid are investigating the causes of the tragic accident.
The 45 year old woman who was the victim in the second tragedy lost both her legs and suffered a broken arm when she was hit by a train entering the station at lunchtime. She is now in a serious condition at the Gregorio Marañón Hospital in the city.
Service between Line 3’s Delicias and Sol stations was restored a little under two hours after the accident.
